4th MEB

Commander's Intent

Purpose: Let Soldiers know what’s important, how we will operate, and what direction we are taking the brigade.

Leadership Framework: Freedom of Action

Key Tasks:

  • Build a cohesive, values based team
  • Prepare Soldiers and their Families for operations
  • Develop Soldiers and leaders who can operate effectively in a chaotic environment
  • Organize, equip, and maintain the force for best effect
  • Retain Soldiers who demonstrate the heart and skills to be leaders in the future

End State: 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade is a resilient, adaptive, and Army strong force that can successfully conduct operations in a contingency area of operations and develops Soldiers and Families who are recognized as valued members of the communities and teams that we support.

Freedom of Action

Soldiers who can visualize a worthy goal within Commander’s Intent, develop courses of action, and then take action to successfully achieve the goal, knowing full well that the chain of command supports them because they are operating for the good of the Army, the organization, and their Families.

Measure of Merit

We will know that we have achieved success when Soldiers do more than they need to, before they’re asked to—not because they have to—but because they want to.
