Ann is presently working as a research engineer/test method developer on the development, implementation of standard test methods for response robots under the DHS program. She is the lead editor of “Robot Response Pocket Guide” and the Test Apparatus Guide for these programs. Ann is also involved with the implementation, data collection and providing ground truth to various projects for the Army Research Lab programs using the Ultra Wide Band System. Ms. Virts has been honored with numerous awards during her tenure at NIST including: Silver Award for exceptional performance - For developing techniques to measure and assess the performance of automated Middle Eastern speech translation systems leading to U.S. military use, 2011 Bronze Award for Superior Federal Service - For advancement of measurement science for evaluating the performance of autonomous vehicles in realistic, complex and dynamic environments, 2011 Student Academic Achievement Award for academic excellence, 2010 Bronze Award for Superior Federal Service – For development and implementation of the SCORE framework, 2008 NIST Colleagues Choice Award - For dedicated contributions that supported NIST's mission, promoted effective external interactions and enhanced division vitality, 2007 Jacob Rabinow Applied Research Award - For technical achievement in applying robotic crane research to improve the productivity and safety of large aircraft maintenance operations, 2006 FEMA Certifications/Studies: |
