Glass NAICS

In 1997, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) reclassified all U.S. industries under a new code – the North American Industry Classification System, or NAICS. [OMB 1997] These new classifications are being used in the Census of Manufactures conducted by the Department of Commerce as well as by other Federal agencies that collect data from industry. The glass industry is segmented into the following NAICS codes based on the processing of glass and final products generated. The move from SICs to NAICS resulted in some changes in the way industries are categorized. For comparison of SIC versus NAICS categories, selected SIC-based energy data is available online.
