USS MOUNT WHITNEY, Baltic Sea — The amphibious command ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC/JCC 20) and Russian navy ship Kaliningrad 102 Ropucha (Project 775/775M) class (LSTM) are in formation on the second day of the Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) exercise 2010 June 8. This is the 38th iteration of BALTOPS and is intended to improve interoperability with partner nations by conducting realistic training both on land and at sea with the 12 participating nations.
