training : partnership AADE
The IHS Division of Diabetes (DDTP) is partnering with the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) to offer AADE training for IHS, Tribal and Urban (I/T/U) Indian program employees who:
- are currently working with people with diabetes or at risk for diabetes, and
- seek to enhance their knowledge and skills in diabetes self-management education (DSME).
This partnership includes the following training programs:
Offered for Individuals:
- Online Courses:
- ABCs of Diabetes Education
- Facilitating Behavior Change
- Core Concepts® Course – Not currently available through the partnership program.
- Recorded Webinars – 24/7 learning programs
- Fundamentals of Diabetes Care – Free online course for licensed practical nurses (LPNs), Community Health Representatives (CHRs) and medical assistants (CE credits are not available)
Offered for Individuals and Groups:
- AADE Webinars – 90-minute live programs

Continuing Education (CE) from AADE
is provided for most of these trainings. To receive CE credits, post-course tests or evaluations need to be submitted to AADE upon completion of the entire training. Also, the Division of Diabetes will send you a post-six month evaluation to complete.
The courses offer a chance to raise awareness of the needs of specific patient groups, such as women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and youth at risk for type 2 diabetes. The training programs present information about clinical measures for assessing diabetes and risk factors for diabetes, or discuss wide-ranging topics. Show details
