National Security Decision Directive (NSDD) 38
- The National Security Decision Directive (NSDD) 38 dated June 2, 1982, gives the Chief of Mission (COM) control of the size, composition, and mandate of overseas full-time mission staffing for all U.S. Government agencies.
- The Under Secretary for Management's Office of Management Policy, Rightsizing, and Innovation (M/PRI) has the lead in managing requests by U.S. Government agencies for additions, deletions, and changes to their staffing overseas.
- M/PRI coordinates with agencies and Department of State Bureaus and Missions to assess the resource, security, and strategic goals in placing U.S. Government personnel abroad.
- M/PRI has developed an interactive, web-based application that will facilitate U.S. Government agencies submitting requests under NSDD-38. To request a logon, click on New User Registration in the Application Log-On box on the first page, fill in the requested information, and click submit. Once your logon request is approved you will receive a temporary password that you will change once you log back into the website.
