CDC Feature: Depression

• Treatment Works: Get Help for Depression and Anxiety
• US Preventive Services Task Force recommended in 2009 screening of adolescents (12-18 years of age) for major depressive disorder when systems are in place to ensure accurate diagnosis, psychotherapy and follow-up

• Tier 2 application: The USPSTF identified parental depression as one of several important risk factors that can be assessed relatively accurately and reliably when screening adolescents for major depressive disorder
• Since 2001, 963 publications have examined 401 genes in relation to risk of depression, including 31 genomewide association studies and 46 meta analyses. To find out more about genes associated with depression, visit the HuGE Navigator
