JAPANESE ENTRY AND MARKETING PROCEDURES
Proprietors of Distilled Spirits Plants, Bonded Wine Cellars
and Breweries.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this industry circular is to inform
those interested in exporting beverage alcohol to Japan that the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has prepared a report
which provides information on Japanese requirements regarding
customs entry procedures, tariff, taxes, labeling, licensing and
advertising of wine, beer and distilled spirits.
This report is not being generally distributed but a single
copy will be mailed, free of charge, to anyone requesting a
copy. Recipients are free to make and distribute photocopies of
the report with no constraints.

This report has been verified as correct by the Japanese
Ministry of Finance, the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare,
the Japanese Fair Trade Commission and the other appropriate
authoritative bodies of the Government of Japan.
It will be updated as necessary and the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco and Firearms would welcome any suggestions which might
assist us in improving the report in the future. In this
connection, it would also be of interest to receive comments from
those who have actually engaged in exporting beverage alcohol to
Japan.
