The Center for Correctional Leadership and Management Studies

The Center provides a single location where one can access training programs, SkillSoft courses, customized e-learning courses, and articles and books that focus on current theories and models of supervision, management, and leadership.

The Center utilizes an innovative education strategy focusing on the “University Model” concept, whereby correctional staff can take supervisory, mid-management, and leadership courses regardless of their position/level in the agency or organization. This concept is similar to taking college courses in that you would take 101 courses prior to 201 courses, prior to 401 courses and so on.

Goals/Objectives:

  • To provide a place for individuals who are seeking career advancement through self- directed learning using recommended materials and trainings, in the classroom and through self-paced online learning.
  • To foster individual, team, and organizational development regardless of current position.
  • To provide research-based information on training, education, and development.
  • To promote collaborative relationships with colleges and universities that emphasize corrections related supervisory, management, and leadership endeavors.
