PEACHTREE CITY, GA — June 6, 2008 — Dr. Elaine Beraza, Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that Mr. Michael Hollier has been named principal of Quantico Middle/High School, aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, in the New York/Virginia/Puerto Rico District. He replaces Charlie Winters who is retiring.

Hollier is currently serving as an Instructional Systems Specialist for the New York/Virginia/Puerto Rico District overseeing PK-12 curriculum, school improvement and assessment initiatives. He began his teaching career with the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) in 1985 and taught at Wuerzburg, Munich and Bad Aibling, in Germany, and Bahrain. Hollier moved into administration in 1999 at M.C. Perry High School, in Japan.

“Michael Hollier is the perfect selection as the QMHS principal. He brings a strong background in curriculum and instruction,” said Mr. Michael Gould, New York/Virginia/Puerto Rico District Superintendent. “His sincere commitment to effective communication with all stakeholders will be greatly appreciated.”

A native of Louisiana, Hollier earned his bachelor’s of arts degree from the University of Louisiana – Monroe and his bachelor’s of science in Science Education from the University of Louisiana – Lafayette. He received his master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Louisiana State University. He taught in Carencro, LA., and Houston, Texas. He resides in Fredericksburg, VA.
