Chairman Bilirakis on the hearing:
“So far this year communities throughout the United States have experienced thwarted terrorist plots, severe winter storms, tornadoes, flooding, and a tsunami, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has predicted that we will have an above average hurricane season this year.  Officials at the Federal, State, and local levels, along with non-governmental and private sector partners, must work to ensure effective preparedness and response efforts for natural disasters and terrorist attacks.  This hearing will provide Subcommittee Members with an opportunity to hear from State, local, and non-governmental officials on their successes and challenges as they work to address these hazards.”

Wednesday, June 15

The Committee will convene the second in a series of hearings examining radicalization of the Muslim-American community.  This hearing will focus on radicalization in U.S. prisons.  Additional information about this hearing will be distributed in the next week.
