DEM Sets Five Priorities for Performance Improvement
DEM's Administrative Adjudication Division Moves to DOA HQ
DEM announces the availability of an advanced Rhode Island State Parks mobile application for Apple & Google Android devices. With 42 percent of US consumers now using smartphones, the Department is using this technology to forge a stronger link with visitors to the state's parks, beaches, and campgrounds. (More info)
DEM: June 27 West Nile/EEE Status Update
DEM announces that test results from all 87 mosquito pools, or samples, from 21 traps set statewide during the week of June 13 are negative for both West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis. (More info)
DEM will hold two public meetings this month to discuss recommended strategies for restoring water quality in 57 waters throughout Rhode Island. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 28 at 4 p.m. in Room 300 at DEM headquarters at 235 Promenade Street in Providence. The second meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 29 at 4 p.m. at the Exeter Library at 773 Ten Rod Road (Route 102). (More info)
With the Fourth of July fast approaching and the 2011 saltwater fishing season underway, the DEM reminds anglers and spearfishers that a 2011 saltwater fishing license is needed to fish recreationally in all marine waters. (More info)
DEM Asks Public to Report Wild Turkey Brood Sightings
DEM is asking Rhode Islanders to assist its Division of Fish and Wildlife's wild turkey project by reporting any sightings of wild turkey hens with (or without) broods of young turkeys (poults). DEM biologists need the information to evaluate this year's reproduction of wild turkeys, the survival of the young, and the population of the state's wild turkey flock. (More info)
