Ask the Psychologist
Purpose
We asked APA member psychologists who serve as ACT Coordinators to provide information about child development and parenting skills.
This time we asked Dr. Angie Sanders to answer two questions about parenting and how parenting
styles impact children.
Dr. Sanders is an Implementation Manager for Credible Behavioral Health (based in Bethesda, Maryland), a leading innovator in web and mobile solutions for behavioral health organizations. She assists care providers in configuring the Credible software to meet their needs and trains behavioral health staff in the implementation and use of the software. Dr. Sanders is also an Administrative and Program Surveyor for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Prior to joining Credible, Dr. Sanders provided administrative leadership to a community mental health agency in eastern Arkansas, where she was an ACT Coordinator.
Responses to questions and suggestions appearing in ACT’s “Ask the Psychologist” reflect psychological research and the expertise of the psychologists responding and are based on the ACT program curriculum. They are provided for the use of and as a resource for parents and other caregivers. This information does not constitute APA policy unless specifically indicated, and APA, the ACT Program, and
ACT program funders are not necessarily endorsing the information in any way. This information is not a substitute for the advice of a professional mental health provider. For assistance in locating a local psychologist, go to APA’s online Psychology Help Center.
