Summary:

This funding opportunity from the Department of Energy's Vehicle Technologies Program focuses on three areas of interest:

  • Solid State Energy Conversion for Vehicular Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and Waste Heat Recovery: The objective of this area of interest is to accelerate development of recently emerging high-efficiency thermoelectric (TE) modules that pump heat in either direction to provide the HVAC function in vehicles.
  • Materials and Manufacturing Technologies for High Energy Lithium-ion Batteries: The objective of this area of interest is to speed the development and deployment of advanced lithium-ion batteries for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
  • Fleet Evaluation and Factory Installation of Aerodynamic Heavy-Duty Truck Trailers: The objective of this area of interest is to accelerate the development, implementation, and commercialization of advanced aerodynamic trailers for heavy-duty trucks that substantially improve fuel economy and reduce petroleum consumption.
