G. LaVern Jackson, President and CEO of Joint Logistics Managers, Inc. named Metropolitan Business League’s 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year

G. LaVern Jackson, President and CEO of Joint Logistics Managers, Inc. of Prince George, Virginia was named 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Metropolitan Business League’s at their annual awards ceremony on January 15, 2005. The award recognizes a business owner who has demonstrated growth of a company through increasing its number of employees, revenues and sales or locations of a business.

JLMI is a minority, woman and veteran owned corporation founded in December 1999 and certified under SBA’s 8(a) program in January 2001. Corporate oversight and management of their worldwide logistics support network is provided from JLMI’s headquarters in Prince George, VA.

Ms. Jackson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from North Carolina Central University, a Masters of Education Administration from Virginia State University and a Graduate Studies degree in Management and Military Science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and is a recognized authority in Logistics Management, Training and Development, Planning and Programming.

JLMI plans, manages, and provides products, systems, management, and administrative support to meet the respective needs of their government and commercial customers. They specialize in acquisition, design, development, movement, sustainment and training of automated logistic support systems. Their wide range of professional support services include administrative management, configuration management, logistics analysis, logistics program support, logistics training, program management, management consultation, training support, information technology and information systems support.

JLMI has received three contracts through the SBA 8(a) program, including a GSA Contract that will allow JLMI to provide Information Technology services to any government agency.

Ms. Jackson is a founding member of the National Association of Certified Government Business Enterprises (NACGBE), a two-year old organization formed to educate, inform and support small business with federal certifications.

JLMI is also committed to giving back to the local community and next generation of logisticians by sponsoring an Intern/Extern program where college students work at underprivileged schools in the IT/IS arena.
