Our Mission - Why We Exist!

The Center for Women's Business Research provides rigorous data-driven knowledge that advances the economic, social, and political impact of women business owners and their enterprises. We do this by setting the global agenda; creating insight on the status and achievements of women business owners; altering perceptions and practice about the economic viability and progress of women-owned enterprises; and defining the driving awareness of the economic and social impact of this vital business sector.

Update from the Chair - Summer 2012

Update from the Chair - Summer 2012
Patricia G. Greene, CWBR Board Chair
It's been a good spring for CWBR and we're looking forward to the summer as well. We just launched our latest study, done with NFIB (National Federation of Independent Businesses) and Chase Card Services, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. The study, "Small Business: Lessons of the Recession" is the first in-depth comparison of how women- and men-business owners reacted to the recession. It looks at a range of responses, both on the revenue maintaining and building side and the cost cutting side. Please take a look at the study and let us know what you think. You can find all the information, including videos discussing the study, at NFIB.

We're also gearing up for our next W-Biz Insight study. The panel is growing so we are investing in updating our screening questions and making it easier for you to join and be a part of the panel community. We'll be continuing our partnership with Key Bank on the Confidence Index while also adding a series of intriguing questions related to the daily lives of women business owners. Next up your thoughts on the presidential election.

Our new Key Fact cards are out and for the first time feature data from around the world. I know these cards need to be in each of your purses, so you can pull the data as you need it.

Our latest Research to Action blog focuses on "What You Can Learn From Your Network" and recognizes the potential gendered differences in networks and networking. This blog is our point of translation moving research to actionable knowledge.

We're still getting a lot of great interest in the GEM Women's report that we released in partnership with GEM at the end of 2011. If you haven't seen it it gives you a great deal to think about regarding commonalities and differences for women business owners around the world. GEM Report

Thank you to all of you who continue to support our work. While there is actually a lot of general information floating around, it's getting more and more difficult to gather valid data in a reliable manner. We appreciate you!
Patti
