Green Pricing and Net Metering Programs

The number of customers in green pricing programs grew by 8 percent in 2010, reaching a new high of 1,216,582 out of a nationwide customer base of 144,140,258. U.S. Crude Oil, Natural Gas, and Natural Gas Liquids Reserves Annual Report

Released: August 1, 2012

U.S. proved crude oil and natural gas reserves achieved record annual volumetric increases in 2010. Crude oil proved reserves increased by 13 percent, the highest volume of proved reserves since 1991. Natural gas proved reserves increased by 12 percent to 300 trillion cubic feet for the first time.

State Energy Data System

The State Energy Data System (SEDS) is the U.S. Energy Information Administration's (EIA) source for comprehensive State energy statistics. Included are estimates of energy production, consumption, prices, and expenditures broken down by energy source and sector. Production and consumption estimates begin with the year 1960 while price and expenditure estimates begin with 1970. The multidimensional completeness of SEDS allows users to make comparisons across States, energy sources, sectors, and over time. (archived versions)

Quarterly Coal Distribution

Released: June 26, 2012

The Quarterly Coal Distribution Report (QCDR) provides detailed U.S. domestic coal distribution data by coal origin State, coal destination State, mode of transportation, and consuming sector. Quarterly data for all years are preliminary and will be superseded by the release of the corresponding Annual Coal Distribution Report.

Refinery Capacity Report

Released: June 22, 2012

Data series include fuel, electricity, and steam purchased for consumption at the refinery; refinery receipts of crude oil by method of transportation; and current and projected atmospheric crude oil distillation, downstream charge, and production capacities. Respondents are operators of all operating and idle petroleum refineries (including new refineries under construction) and refineries shut down during the previous year, located in the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and other U.S. possessions. The 2012 Refinery Capacity Report does not contain working and shell storage capacity data. This data is now being collected twice a year as of March 31 and September 30 on the Form EIA-810, "Monthly Refinery Report", and is now released as a separate report Working and Net Available Shell Storage Capacity.

State-level Greenhouse Gas Emission Factors for Electricity Generation, Updated

To assist reporters in estimating emissions and emission reductions, EIA has made available in the instructions to Forms EIA-1605 and EIA-1605EZ emission coefficients for most commonly used fossil fuels and electricity. These coefficients were based on 1992 emissions and generation data. In 1999, updated coefficients were prepared based on the most recent data (1998) then available; however, the updated coefficients were not included in the instructions for the 1999 data year. This year, they have been updated again, but based on three years worth of data (1997, 1998, and 1999) rather than a single year.
