Sell the general indexes and buy gold?

Intermediate term, the markets still look fine, so I would not be panicking here. As for gold, it remains a buy in my book on retraces for now, and the Friday lows look like a great place to do just that.

Options trading isn’t as hard as you think

By themselves, options are not dangerous. The danger is in the speculative strategies that some people use. Fortunately, writes Michael Sincere, the best antidote to risky option strategies is knowledge.

Dollar pares loss, Treasurys down after U.S. data

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The U.S. dollar pared losses and Treasury prices remained under pressure on Thursday after the durable-goods report showed core orders, a closely watched metric for overall growth, were flat, while analysts expected a good increase. A separate report showed weekly jobless claims fell to 369,000, close to economists' forecasts. Equity gains starting overseas reduced investor interest in the relative safe-haven aspect of Treasurys and the greenback. The dollar index , a measure of the U.S. unit against a basket of six major currencies, traded at 79.919, from 79.825 before the report and 79.932 in North American trade late Wednesday. The euro pared gains to $1.2977 versus $1.2971 late Wednesday. Yields on 10_year notes [10_year], which move inversely to prices, rose 4 basis points to 1.84%.
