ANNOTATION: Local juvenile courts are funded by block grants—monies given to the courts with general requirements resulting in flexible spending at the local level. This report examines the “administration of the block grant including (1) criteria used to allocate funding, and (2) report on participants in programs subject to the block grant” (p. 1). Other jurisdictions using block grants will find the use of evidence-based practice to be very interesting. Sections of this report include: Washington’s juvenile justice system; block grant funding—criteria used, oversight, and promising programs; and evidence-based program participation.
