Nampa Man Sentenced for Distributing Cocaine
BOISE – The third defendant in a Treasure Valley drug trafficking conspiracy was sentenced in United States District Court in Boise today, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. Juan Cruz-Rodriguez, 48, of Nampa, Idaho, was sentenced to 27 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for distributing cocaine. Cruz-Rodriguez pled guilty on October 13, 2011.
According to the plea agreement, on three separate occasions in February and March 2008, Cruz-Rodriguez admitted to selling approximately four ounces of cocaine at various locations in Caldwell, Idaho.
Co-defendant Sergio Said Gonzalez-Borquez, 21, a Mexican national formerly residing in Caldwell, Idaho, was sentenced in September 2011 to five years in prison for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. Lidia Yolanda Gonzalez, 43, also of Mexico, was sentenced in July 2011 to 46 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine.
Co-defendant Sergio Enrique Gonzalez, 45, a Mexican national, remains a fugitive.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Nampa Police Department.
The investigation was the result of a joint investigation of the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). The OCDETF program is a federal multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional task force that supplies supplemental federal funding to federal and state agencies involved in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of major drug trafficking organizations.
