Terreton Woman Pleads Guilty to Passing Counterfeit Checks at Casino
POCATELLO – Tiffany Horning, 25, of Terreton, Idaho, pleaded guilty today in United States District Court in Pocatello to uttering a counterfeit check, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced.
According to the plea agreement, Horning admitted that on May 22 and May 24, 2010, she passed two checks totaling $1,345.36 at the Sage Hill Casino, which is owned by the Fort Hall Shoshone-Bannock Tribes. The checks appeared to be drawn on the account of a Rexburg, Idaho, company and made payable to Horning. Horning admitted that she made the checks on her computer and cashed them at the casino.
The charge is punishable by up to ten years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release.
Sentencing is set for April 20, 2012, before Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill at the federal courthouse in Pocatello.
The case was investigated by the Fort Hall Police Department.
