Coleman Sick Call Ends Friday
The sick call service at Coleman Troop Medical Clinic will cease Sept. 28 based on usage figures. “The utilization at Coleman TMC has dropped to the point where it is a more effective and efficient use of our resource to provide the full spectrum of healthcare and meet the patient demand from our Heidelberg Clinic,” said Lt. Col. Rachele Smith, Heidelberg Army Health Clinic Commander. Soldiers assigned to Coleman Barracks and requiring sick call services will be seen at the Heidelberg Clinic beginning Oct. 1. “We are a patient centric service organization ensuring safe, quality patient care during a time of transformation and in an environment that is constantly evolving,” added Smith. “We must continue to reassess our environment in order to change with our times and effectively manage our resources while ensuring we meet our patients' needs.”
Clinic Consolidates Pediatric Care
The Pediatrics section of the Heidelberg Army Health Clinic now falls under Family Practice as part of continuing transformation efforts toward next June’s closure of the clinic at Nachrichten Kaserne. As the pediatrics section downsizes to one pediatrician, who will continue to see children from birth to five years of age, those over five years old will be seen by the general practitioners and Family Practice doctors who are all qualified to provide health care to those age groups.
