Reported in Optics Express, Italian researchers have used a new technique called confocal light sheet microscopy (CLSM) to image the neural pathways of a whole mouse brain. The images are 100% sharper than those obtained with conventional LSM.

1 October is the post-deadline submission deadline for Frontiers in Optics 2012 in Rochester, New York.
9 October is the submission deadline for The Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC) and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC).
12 October is the housing deadline and 15 October is the early registration and post-deadline submission deadlines for Optical Instrumentation for Energy & Environmental Applications (E2) , Optical Nanostructures and Advanced Materials for Photovoltaics (PV), Optics for Solar Energy (SOLAR), Solid State and Organic Lighting (SOLED).
