How much does it cost to build different types of power plants in the United States?
EIA has estimates for the capital costs for different types of electricity generators in Updated Capital Cost Estimates for Electricity Generation Plants, see Table 1 under the paragraph heading Summary of updated overnight capital costs estimates and comparison to information. These estimates were used for the electricity projections in the Annual Energy Outlook 2012 and Annual Energy Outlook 2011.
