Nationally, one new large fire was reported in Alaska. Elsewhere, firefighters continue to make progress on large fires in the Northwestern states.

Weather: A slow-moving upper low will cross the central Rockies, producing scattered showers and thunderstorms across Wyoming, Colorado and part of New Mexico. Otherwise, the West will be warm and dry. A stalled cold front from the central Plains to the mid-Atlantic coast will produce showers and thunderstorms from western Texas and Oklahoma to Pennsylvania and Virginia. The northern Plains and Great Lakes region will be cool and dry. The Gulf coast region and the Southeast will continue to be warm and humid.
