Schwartz to Host Counselors to Aid Seniors During Medicare Open Enrollment Period
Washington, DC— To ensure seniors have access to the wide range of benefits available through Medicare, U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz will be hosting counselors from APPRISE—Pennsylvania’s free health insurance counseling program—during Medicare’s open enrollment period. Each year during the open enrollment period, which begins on October 15th and ends on December 7th, seniors have a chance to make changes to their Medicare Advantage or Medicare prescription drug coverage plans for the following year.
Seniors have the option to:
- Change from original Medicare to Medicare Advantage Plan or from Medicare Advantage Plan to original Medicare
- Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another
- Switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan that doesn’t offer drug coverage to one that does
- Join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan
- Switch from one Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to another
- Drop Medicare prescription drug coverage
On the following dates, counselors from APPRISE will be available in Rep. Schwartz’s district offices between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. for 30-45 minute meetings. To schedule an appointment, contact Michelle Espinal, constituent services representative, at 215-517-6572 or Michelle.Espinal@mail.house.gov. Due to the high number of expected appointments, the office will not be able to accommodate individuals without scheduled appointments.
