DOE NEUP Lead Program Manager

Michael Worley is the director for integrated safety and program assurance for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy. His responsibilities include planning and executing DOE’s Nuclear Energy University Programs (NEUP) and Integrated University Program (IUP). Prior to this assignment, Worley was the director for laboratory facilities management, with responsibility for the Idaho facilities management and safeguards and security programs at Idaho National Laboratory (INL). Worley joined the Office of Nuclear Energy in 2003.

Kenny Osborne is a Department of Energy contracting officer representative based in the Idaho field office. He manages the existing NERI grants and cooperative agreements as well as NEUP’s infrastructure and student educational support.
NEUP Integration Office Director
John Gilligan, Ph.D. (919) 513-7144
Dr. John Gilligan is the primary liaison for NEUP with universities, national laboratories, and industry and works with the NEUP Executive Committee and other organizations. He is responsible for general policies and procedures for the NEUP program. Dr. Gilligan is also a faculty member at North Carolina State University and is the author of over 110 peer reviewed publications. He has been the editor of the Nuclear Science and Engineering Education Sourcebook since 1986 and has served as University Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies at NC State.
NEUP Integration Office Program Manager

Greg Bala handles the day-to-day operations of the Integration Office and works closely with the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy to administer NEUP. Prior to joining NEUP, Greg was responsible for the management and integration of research and operation activities for multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary research teams in physical, chemical and biological sciences at the Idaho National Laboratory. He has a Masters degree in microbiology from Miami University, Ohio.
NEUP Integration Office Deputy Program Manager

Val Seeley is the NEUP Integration Office Deputy Program Manager and acts as NEUP's project manager. She assists with day-to-day operations of the Integration Office. Val also manages the financial operations of the office which include the administration of contracts and scheduling.
NEUP Integration Office Outreach Coordinator

Drew Thomas is the NEUP outreach coordinator. He is responsible for communications for the program, including writing press releases, maintaining the NEUP Website, social media, corresponding with researchers, and coordinating outreach activities.
NEUP Student Educational Support and Infrastructure Lead

Jenna Payne is the Student Educational Support and Infrastructure lead. She leads NEUP's Scholarship, Fellowship, and Infrastructure grant processes including student interactions, project tracking, and acceptance package preparations.
NEUP Contracts Lead

Stefanie Johnston is the NEUP contracts lead and quarterly reports point of contact. She is responsible for the administration of both R&D and IRP subcontracts and serves as a liaison between university researchers and BEA procurement. Stefanie also works with Principal Investigators, Technical Points of Contact and Federal Points of Contact to facilitate the R&D and IRP quarterly reports process.
NEUP Reviewer Coordinator
Ryan Jensen (208) 526-1507
Ryan Jensen is the NEUP reviewer coordinator and manages review assignments from NE’s reviewer database. Ryan is the primary point of contact for reviewers and coordinates review and panel assignments for all NEUP solicitations. Ryan also assists with contract administration and other financial operations of the office.
