Physician Assistant Program

Purpose:
Military sponsored Physician Assistant (PA) training of Coast Guard personnel is conducted at the Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP), located at the U.S. Army Medical Department Center and School Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Only active duty Coast Guard enlisted ratings are eligible to apply for the Coast Guard's Physician Assistant (PA) Training Program.

Successful graduates receive a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska and a commission as an Ensign in the USCG (per Article 1-A-4, Personnel Manual (COMDTINST M1000.6 series).

Applications are made by the E-Resume via PeopleSoft and must be submitted no later than 15 May of the year preceding the start of classes. Amplifying information regarding specific eligibility and the complete application process can be obtained in the Coast Guard Training and Education Manual COMDTINST M1500.10B, ART.3-B-5.
