Van Hollen Statement on Memorial Day

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement in honor of the Memorial Day holiday:
"Throughout our history, our Armed Forces have fought courageously to defend our freedom, both at home and abroad. This Memorial Day, we take time to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in the defense of our nation and thank our veterans and active servicemen and women for their dedication. They have sacrificed so much for America, and we must provide them with the resources they need to succeed when they come home. As part of that effort, we must ensure that veterans have job opportunities when they finish their service. Without these heroes, we would not enjoy the liberty and prosperity that make our country great – and we must not only remember their sacrifice through our words, but also by our deeds."
