October is National Dental Hygiene Month

"A Healthy Smile Lasts a Lifetime"

No matter your age, oral hygiene is an essential part of your daily routine to prevent cavities and gum disease. Introducing young children to the dentist will help instill good habits at a young age.

Dental hygiene is far more important than just having a white smile. Regular visits to a dentist allows for early detection of gum disease, oral cancer, as well as other life-threatening and serious diseases which may display symptoms in the mouth. Also, early gum disease is completely reversible with good oral care at home and regular visits to a dentist.

So, if you are guilty of postponing your next dental exam and cleaning, wait no longer and visit your dentist this month! If you do not have a dentist or dental insurance, you can enroll in the Erie County Department of Health Dental Program. Click here for more information about this program.
