BuddyJuly 3, 2012Don't cross that white solid line while under the tunnel for ANY reason! There are cameras all along the entire tunnel which will take a picture of your license plate and nail you with a huge ticket!!
This little street has a few carriage houses directly over the tunnel entrance (the street itself is elevated as a sort-of "bridge") & London-style streetposts. The right side of the tolls is usually less congested than the left. Everyone getting off of 139 usually stays to the left.

Ron PetroAugust 28Avoid this tunnel at all costs, take the George Washington Bridge. The GWB is further north but when car breaks down in the two lane tunnel it doesn't get towed out causing a traffic jam for hours!

Only tip I can give is stay away from the tunnel. Period. Almost never a goof time to go.
Stay to the outside lanes if you pay with cash, inside with EZ-Pass.
This "merge of death" isn't for the faint of heart... often the exterior toll lanes are the fastest.

NaeLove <3June 25, 2012Tunnels are way more scary than bridges. I can't help but think about drowning while I'm stuck in this mess.
If paying cash, stay n the far right lane, it always seems to move much quicker than the other Cash lane.
avoid this tunnel during rush hour. it is always super packed.
