Otay Mesa Land Port of Entry

The Otay Mesa LPOE is a multi-modal (commercial, non-commercial and pedestrian) port of entry. The port is one of the ten busiest land ports in the country and is the busiest commercial port on the California/Baja California border, handling the second highest volume of trucks but the highest dollar volume of trade among all U.S. land ports.
The proposed project will reconfigure and modernize the existing port through the purchase of adjacent traffic circulation.
DESIGN
A design contract in the amount of $8.3M was awarded on July 24, 2009 to the architect/engineering firm of Tate, Snyder, Kimsey of Las Vegas, Nevada. The design will focus on modernization of the facility and reconfiguring the port to improve traffic circulation and efficiency.
Also on July 24, GSA awarded a $758K construction management services contract for this project to Parsons Infrastructure and Technology Group of San Diego, California. Work under both contracts will begin immediately with design completion expected in early 2011.
