Data Sources External to DOT
Data for the following DOT performance measures are supplied by agencies outside DOT. Information about the quality of these data may be obtained from the source agency.
- The data on commercial and general aviation fatalities come from the National Transportation Safety Board's Aviation Accident Database.
- The data on mobile source emissions from on-road motor vehicles and carbon equivalent emissions from transportation sources originate from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- The data on transportation energy consumption come from the Energy Information Administration.
- Data on DOT-owned facilities categorized as "No Further Remedial Action Planned" under the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) are maintained by the EPA
- Data on the number of miles of the Appalachian Development Highway System that have been completed come from the Appalachian Regional Commission.
- Current Employment Statistics are provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics
- Marine availability data is compiled and measured based on data obtained from the U. S. Coast Guard Mariner Licensing and Documentation data
- The Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS) is maintained by the General Services Administration
