A patient at the Courtland Rehabilitation and Living Center is greeted by Sierra, a three-year-old Great Dane therapy dog. Sierra’s owner, Petty Officer 2nd Class Charles Johnson, trained Sierra to be a therapy dog.
Together, Johnson and Sierra have spent over 150 hours visiting patients at rehabilitation and retirement centers throughout Maine. Therapy dogs are used to help reduce stress and boost morale.
