Tony Mendez

NSLS-II Assistant Building Manager

Tony Mendez joined the project on February 4, 2008 as the Assistant Building Manager reporting to Gerry Van Derlaske.

His primary responsibilities include assisting with the oversight of all buildings and ground maintenance, coordinating construction projects, renovations and upgrades of the facility infrastructure. Tony will assist Gerry as the interface between Plant Engineering Project Coordination and the construction, crafts, and trades groups that support the project.

Tony has been with Brookhaven National Laboratory since March 17, 1979 beginning as an Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanic. In 1985 Tony was promoted to Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Supervisor and in 1998 promoted again to Team Maintenance and Multi – Craft Supervisor.

Tony’s background includes plumbing, air condition & refrigeration, electrical troubleshooting, carpentry, and steam heating systems.
