Digital Strategy

The Digital Government Strategy is aimed at building a 21st century government that works better for the American people. The strategy's three primary goals are to:

  • Enable the American people and an increasingly mobile workforce to access high-quality digital government information and services anywhere, anytime, on any device.
  • Ensure that as the government adjusts to this new digital world, we seize the opportunity to procure and manage devices, applications, and data in smart, secure, and affordable ways.
  • Unlock the power of government data to spur innovation across our nation and improve the quality of services for the American people.

Overview

Earlier this year, President Obama issued a digital strategy initiative intended to realize that vision for providing government data and services to citizens in the 21st century.

The initiative acknowledges the realities of the increasing numbers of Americans: many, if not most, want to be able to access relevant government information and services via all kinds of digital devices. Just as with other parts of their digital lives, from shopping to borrowing a library book, we all want to be able to take action on a digital device around the clock. We want the information to be easy to access and understand.

Reaching this goal requires a number of steps--and, most importantly, substantial input from you, the citizen.

To do that, GSA, with the rest of the federal government, is asking citizens to advise us what you need, and where you need it. Please add your comments at the bottom of the eServices Ideas and Mobile Ideas tabs.
