Good morning. NATO’s 28 Allies are very pleased today to be able to meet with the Foreign Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Montenegro and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia 1.
These 4 countries aspire to NATO membership. And they therefore have a special place among NATO’s partners.
Today’s meeting demonstrates how strongly your four countries are linked to the Alliance and how much we want to further strengthen those ties.
We share a common set of value, we serve side by side in NATO operations, and we work together on a daily basis to prepare your countries for future membership of our Alliance.
Today’s meeting offers an excellent opportunity to have an exchange of views on the main Summit agenda issues. Allies look forward to hearing the perspective of the four aspirant countries on the key challenges facing Allies and Partners today and the role that our key partners can play.
I would like now to give the floor to Secretary of State Clinton for a few introductory remarks as the host nation.
