Bullying
"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names can never hurt me." Too bad this saying isn't true. If you've ever been the target of harsh and unkind words, you know how hurtful they can be. But did you also know that repeated teasing is a form of bullying? And that's not the only kind of bullying there is!
This section of girlshealth.gov gives the low-down on bullying among girls, which is more common than you might think. You can learn about:
- Bullying over the Internet
- The different ways girls bully and the long-lasting hurt it can cause
- Why some girls are bullied more than others
- How being a bully can hurt you, too
- Ways you can protect yourself and others from bullying
- The dangers of hazing
If you are being bullied at school, you don’t need to sit back and accept it. Don’t be afraid to speak up. Talk to a parent, a teacher, or a trusted adult. It’s up to adults to make sure your situation gets better!
