Officer Development SchoolWelcome aboard, Welcome to Officer Development School! ODS is one of five officer accession programs we operate here at Officer Training Command Newport (OTC). Officer Development School is the foundation for your success as a member of the Naval Officer Corps. The course is comprehensive, intense, and designed to facilitate your introduction to your responsibilities as a naval officer. The course will also introduce the Naval Officers to the military structure of the United States Navy, the rich history of traditions and customs, our legal system and finally, military etiquette. ODS is extremely demanding both physically and mentally. The website addresses check-in procedures, lodging, messing, transportation, uniforms and various other topics. We look forward to your arrival. Report to the quarterdeck of King Hall (Bldg 291) in appropriate civilian attire no later than after 1200 (or as stated in your orders) on the day before your class convenes (normally this report date will fall on a Sunday). Contrary to what your official Navy Orders state, you need to report by 1200). Check-in will be conducted on Sunday evening at approximately 1730. This process will take several hours to complete. Please be sure to eat dinner prior to the 1730 briefing. If you have any questions, please consult the information included in the ODS website or contact the ODS Lead Instructor at commercial 401-841-7240. Sincerely, |
