Sep. 1 ~ MCX News
Effective Sept. 1, 2012, credit options at all Marine Corps Exchange facilities are limited to the Military Star and all major credit cards; layaway is no longer available. While existing layaway agreements will be honored, all MCX facilities will discontinue layaway programs to comply with Department of Defense instructions 1330.09 and 1015.15.
Sep. 30 WaterWorks Pool Closing
The WaterWorks Pool is scheduled to close Sept. 30, 2012, for the season. For more information, contact the aquatics office at 253-4966.
Jul. 1, 2012 - Apr. 1, 2013 Seawall Closure
Sectioned portions of the seawall have closed for construction scheduled through April 2013. The affected area of the seawall includes any portion of the seawall after the "NO THROUGH PATH" sign. Take extra care because construction vehicles will pass through. The affected areas will shut down completely when heavy equipment is transferred. American Force Network

Birthday Break
The birthday break is an ongoing promotion held every Friday at 9:15 a.m. on Power 1575 radio. The promotion is open to anyone with a birthday. Just visit www.mccsiwakuni.com/birthdaycake, fill out the form and let Power 1575 and Marine Corps Community Services take care of the rest. Every Friday, birthdays from the previous week will be announced and on the last Friday of every month there will be a random birthday cake giveaway for one birthday in the upcoming month.

American Red Cross

Dental Assisting Training Program
The American Red Cross is offering a Dental Assisting Training Program. To receive your certificate you will receive 40 hours of didactic course and 500 hours of supervised clinical experience and chair side instruction. Branch Health Clinic

New Family Practice Provider
To offer its beneficiaries more access to routine and acute care, Branch Health Clinic Iwakuni is adding a provider to the family practice clinic. This will increase the number of available appointments available to BHC Iwakuni beneficiaries on a daily basis. Because more routine and acute appointments will be available in family practice, the Urgent Care Clinic will no longer see patients for these types of care. The Urgent Care Clinic will be reserved for urgent and emergent cases only. An advice line is available 24 hours a day. Please call 253-5571 if you have questions.

Gospel Choir

Catholic Mass Changes
No Catholic Masses will be held aboard station Sept. 9th or 16th. However, a van will be provided for those who do not have a vehicle to go to the Christ The King Catholic Church in Iwakuni. The van leaves the station chapel parking lot at 8:30 a.m. The Saturday Catholic Masses for Sept. 8th and 15th will still take place inside the chapel. Daily Masses for Sept. 3rd to 6th and from Sept. 17th to 20th are cancelled. For more information and directions to Christ The King Church, contact the Chaplain's office at 253-3371.

Marriage Enrichment Small Group

Club Beyond

Iwakuni Teens
Join us for Club Beyond every Tuesday night. Enjoy games, music, food and fun plus a short Bible lesson. Club is held in Yujo Hall, between the chapel and thrift shop, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. every Tuesday. Community Support

Lending Locker Program
The lending locker program is available to provide small home appliances and utensils for incoming and outgoing command sponsored members for up to 60 days inbound and 30 days outbound. A copy of PCS orders are required to check-out items and the program is by appointment only. The lending locker is located in Building 411 Room 101. For more information, call 253-6161.

Golf Pro Shop Golf In Iwakuni
Golf here in Iwakuni has not died; the Iwakuni Golf Pro Shop is selling vouchers and transportation to the Iwakuni Country Club, a golf course out in town. It takes only a few minutes to get out to the country club by bus and the entire trip will only cost approximately $35. For more information, call the Golf Pro Shop at 253-3402.
Housing Community Rooms
Community room inspections are required in order to rent a community room. Patrons reserving community rooms risk losing their reservation by missing their inspection appointment. To schedule a community room or get more information, call Housing at 253-3341.
Library New Language Learning
System Available Station library has now added Transparent Language Online to their resources. This program is available to all library patrons within the Marine Corps community to include, active duty, dependents and retirees, for free via web-browser. The program offers more than 80 language opportunites. To register for a Transparent Online Account, visit the library located on the third floor of Bdlg. 411. Once registered, users may access the Transparent Language Online program from any internet connected computer. Accounts remain active throughout the life of the contract with Transparent Language Online. For more information or to register, visit the station library.

Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS)

Quick Assist Loans
The Iwakuni Navy Marine Corps Relief Society is providing Quick Assist Loans to prevent active duty service members from falling prey to predatory lenders. These loans are designed to assist with short-term living expenses up to $300, interest free and must be repaid within 10 months. Partial Transition from CIF to IIF

Partial Transition from CIF to IIF
The Consolidated Storage Program has transitioned from the consolidated issue facility model. All field protective mask issues and returns will take place at the CIFs or IIFs. Each customer will have a single issue record including any field protective masks and all infantry combat equipment issued through CIFs or IIFs. For more information, call 623-2626 or 623-2625.

Lost and Found
Please contact the Provost Marshal’s Office Lost and Found if you have lost various items around the air station. Examples of items may include cell phones, keys, digital cameras, bicycle helmets, etc. To recover lost items or for more information, call 253-4929 or e-mail jeffrey.anderson@usmc.mil.

PMO ComRel Office
The Provost Marshal's Office Community Relations OFfice has new hours of operation for fingerprinting, flight-line access,passport reentry stamps, and the lost and found. New office hours are 7:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Thrift Store Changes
The Marine Thrift Store has new management and new hours. Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4-6:30 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Open to active duty military in uniform Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Thrift Store Funds
The Thrift Store gives funds generated from donations they receive back to the community. If your organization is hosting a community event, or wondering how they will fund their next community relations project, your Thrift Store may be able to help. Volunteer Positions

TriCare TriCare Coverage Change
A new TriCare program offers coverage for young adults under 26, uniformed services dependents under 26, unmarried, and not eligible for their own employer-sponsored health care coverage may be qualified to purchase TYA, which offers TRICARE standard coverage for monthly premiums of $186.
