Our town of Alamogordo is the site of the New Mexico School for the Visualy
Handicapped but not a single street crossing in the town has an audible crossing
signal. The situation is especially critical at the corner of he school grounds
which is also the intersection of two major streets, the principal n-s route
through town and a heavily traveled e-w artery. There are business across both
streets and a park to the west. The students are denied independent access to
these accommodations for lack of existing but uninstalled technology.
I bring this to your attention as one example of the needs of our blind
citizens.
I therefore support the recommendations of the Public Rights of Way Advisory
Committee.
Sincerely, Elmer Norris
