American Education Week Promotes Schools, Salutes Educators, Celebrates Learning

November 14, 2011 - Media Advisories.

ARLINGTON, VA — The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) will join schools across the United States, the National Education Association (NEA) and many other educational organizations in observing the 90th Annual American Education Week from November 13-19.

The theme for the celebration is, "Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility."

During American Education Week, Americans nationwide will join together in raising awareness about the need to provide every child with a quality public education. The celebration highlights the importance of bringing together educators, parents, students, and communities in a unified effort to build great public schools.

Throughout the week, participating schools will organize a number of activities nationwide to reinforce American Education Week's 2011 theme. These activities will spotlight the different people who are critical in building great schools for our nation's and DoDEA's students.
