PEACHTREE CITY, GA — June 27, 2008 — Dr. Elaine Beraza, Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that Mrs. Sharon “Sherry” Hall has been named principal of Butner Elementary School, at Fort Bragg, in the North Carolina District. She replaces Dr. Mary Brigham who will serve as an Instructional Systems Specialist at the District Service Office.

Hall has worked for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) for more than 25 years in a variety of administrative and teaching positions around the world. She began her teaching career in Colorado and from there went to Guam, and then to Tyonek, an Alaskan bush village. In 1980 she was hired by DoDEA and taught in Babenhausen, Germany. She also taught in Hanau, Germany; Sigonella, Sicily; Rota, Spain; Azores, Portugal; Incirlik, Turkey; Seoul, Korea; and went Guam again where she was an administrator at Andersen Elementary School and most recently at McCool Elementary/Middle School.

A native of Colorado, Hall earned her bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education K-12 from Adams State College, Alamosa, Colo. She earned her master’s degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Gifted Education from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colo. She and her husband, William A. Hall who is currently principal of Andersen Middle School on Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, have one daughter and two granddaughters.
