PEACHTREE CITY, GA — July 3, 2006 — Dr. Elaine Beraza, Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that Mr. Bill Rose has been named principal of Robins Elementary School, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, in the Georgia/Alabama District. Rose is currently principal of Smith Elementary School in Baumholder, Germany.

“I’m delighted that Bill has accepted the position of principal at Robins Elementary School,” said Dr. Dell McMullen, Georgia/Alabama District Superintendent. “He comes highly recommended for his commitment to quality education and his excellent work with parents, staff and students.”

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rose served in the U.S. Army and then earned his bachelor's of arts degree in Elementary Education from Bluffton College, Bluffton, Ohio. He began his teaching career in Columbus Grove, Ohio, as a second grade teacher. He earned his master's degree in education in counseling from the University of Dayton.

Rose began his career with DoDEA as a kindergarten teacher at Wetzel Elementary School, and left there to become a counselor at Ramstein Elementary School, both in the Kaiserslautern District of DoDDS-Europe. While there he also served as an education program manager and assistant principal. Rose completed his master's degree in administration at Trenton State University. He served as an assistant principal at Smith and Wetzel elementary schools.

Rose's wife, Fran Bedard, will join him during the school year. She is a math teacher at Ramstein Middle School, in Germany, and retires in October with 30 years of service.
