- Tri-State partnering with ENERGY STAR; adding appliances and new electric technologies to its energy efficiency program
Tri-State’s board of directors recently approved significant additions to the power supplier’s long-standing Energy Efficiency Credits program to further promote energy innovation and the wise use of electricity. The changes include providing monetary incentives to end-use electric consumers for the purchase and use of ENERGY STAR appliances and a wider deployment of new energy saving technologies, such as LED lighting and low temperature heat pumps.
- Co-ops provide school district incentives for energy efficiency
On Feb. 11, Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter toured Palmer Ridge High School in Monument, Colo., getting a firsthand look at the largest geothermal heating and cooling system in the state, which allows the new high school to use energy more efficiently and save money. Tri-State and its local member distribution cooperative, Mountain View Electric Association, provided more than $190,000 in rebates and incentives to reward the school district’s commitment to energy efficiency.
- Tri-State to host solar augmentation study at N.M. coal-based power plant
With a goal of increasing power plant efficiency while incorporating renewable technologies, Tri-State has entered into an agreement with the Electric Power Research Institute to host a case study that is aimed at helping electric utilities add solar energy to fossil-fueled generating stations.
