Washington, Nov 10, 2011 -

Last night Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen received the John V. Kabler Memorial Award from the Maryland League of Conservation Voters.  John Kabler joined with his environmental colleagues to found the Maryland League of Conservation Voters in 1979 and was a key leader of the Maryland conservation movement. The award, which was established in 2001, is presented annually to Maryland’s most outstanding environmental leaders and organizations.

“I am pleased to receive this award in recognition of the ongoing work being done to address the challenges to Maryland’s environment, including the Chesapeake Bay,” said Congressman Van Hollen. “The Maryland League of Conservation Voters is a vital partner in the effort to restore the Bay, protect the public health, and build America’s clean energy future with offshore wind and the jobs it brings. I look forward to continuing to work with them to build a greener Maryland.”
