About the OCIO

The Military Health Systems Office of the Chief Information Officer is the principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs) on information management and information technology affairs. The OCIO directs IM/IT strategic planning and assesses the requirements established for agency personnel regarding knowledge and skill in information resources management including the adequacy of such requirements for facilitating the achievement of performance goals.


Mission

The mission of the OCIO is to provide the right information to the right customers at the right time to improve and maintain health status across the entire continuum of military health care operations.


IM/IT Governance

The OCIO supports the OASD (HA)/TMA and the Military Health Services in applying the principles of DOD information and technology management by developing and implementing policies, procedures, programs, and technical standards necessary to acquire, manage, integrate, and secure information technology systems and capabilities that support the delivery of high quality, cost effective health care services across the operational continuum.
