Strategic Plans and Policy (SPP)

The Strategic Plans and Policy Division (SPP) encompasses the three strategic branches: Strategic Analysis (SA), Strategic Plans & Policy (SP), and Strategic Issues & Engagement (SIE) with the intent to develop and promote issues of strategic importance to transformation, articulate policies to direct Alliance transformation efforts and supports the development of NATO strategic level concepts which clarify how transformation may be achieved.

SPP is responsible for supporting the development of emerging, and the revision of current, NATO strategic-level concepts by promoting innovation through the implementation of the strategic issues program of work. Specific positions have been identified with the responsibility for linking and coordinating efforts with the Capabilities Development Division to ensure that conceptual work within the HQ is analyzed, and where appropriate, incorporated into strategic issues development and subsequently SACT’s policy recommendations to the IS/IMS.
