Tracing
- The National Tracing Center (NTC) traced more than 333,445 firearms for our agents and our law enforcement partners globally.
NIBIN
- NIBIN partners have completed more than 2 million acquisitions
- NIBIN partners have confirmed more than 47,000 NIBIN hits
Laboratories
- Our state-of-the-art laboratories, which examine forensic evidence such as ballistics and DNA, as well as reconstruct and test arson and fire scenarios—in Fiscal Year 2011, ATF’s laboratories completed the following:
- Processed 4,035 forensic cases
- Processed 72 fire research cases
National Response Team (NRT)
- Since 1978, the NRT has been activated to more than 734 significant incidents throughout the U.S.
- In FY 2011, the NRT:
- Responded to: 11 incidents
- Property damage estimated value at: $92 million
Alcohol and Tobacco
- During FY 2011:
- Recommended defendants for prosecution: 213
- Seized: approximately $32.2 million in criminal contraband
Training
Historical
- In FY 2007-08, ATF provided firearms-related training to:
- 276 Mexican police and prosecutors
- More than 1,500 members of the international law enforcement community
- More than 950 police officials trained at the International Law Enforcement Academies across the globe in Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America
- Gang Resistance Education And Training (GREAT):
- Since 1991, GREAT has graduated more than 6 million school children. More than 12,500 law enforcement officers and professionals have been certified as GREAT instructors.
FY 2011
- In FY 2011, ATF provided the following training:
- Post-Blast Investigative Techniques:Approximately 420 law enforcement personnel were trained, including members of the Mexican police and military forces. Also during this time, ATF transitioned support from military post blast techniques to homemade explosives programs due to changing military priorities from emerging threats.
- Explosives-related courses: More than 800 law enforcement personnel, including 300 State and local investigators and bomb squad personnel
- Arson-related courses: 737 personnel in arson-related courses
- Gang Resistance Education And Training (GREAT):
- ATF agents taught students: 4,435
- ATF agents trained as instructors: 23
