I'm in Accra, Ghana participating in Africa Endeavor (AE) 2010 - a gathering of more than 35 African and European countries to practice communications interoperability. We also have Economic Community of Western African States (ECOWAS), Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the Africa Union (AU) participating. Next week, we will attempt to connect directly with the AU in Addis Ababa. It's exciting that the AU is playing an important role in this exercise because one of the goals of AE is to help build the capability of the African Standby Forces.
Even more impressive is the enthusiasm of the participants to overcome language and technology barriers to accomplish the mission here. As one of the delegates said recently, "this exercise is not only about equipment interoperability; it is about human interoperability."
